Romilda was tired. It had been a really long day. School, for one, and her first Potions class. She was glad that was over, and that there was no homework (Romilda had forgotten about that part of school)!

She had spent the better part of the afternoon helping Rosmerta with the food for this party, and she had helped with the cake icing. It had been hard to keep Liam's fingers out of the cake batter, but she was fairly certain she had succeeded. He was hanging around in the kitchen, trying to find Peeves, who had disappeared through a wall that Liam was now studying intently. He didn't quite understand the concept of ghosts and poltergeists just yet, and Romilda had no time to discuss it yet.

At least Alicia isn't working, she thought with a sigh of relief. She had managed to avoid shifts with her but eventually she knew they would have to see each other again. Seamus was working tonight too, and it sounded like it was going to be one huge old Gryffindor party. That would be nice, and it would be good to be around some familiar faces. She wondered if Colin would come down to the pub, or whether he had even been invited. He would have had a great opportunity to take some photos.

She was still out the back, following Rosmerta's directions and putting the last of the food onto the plates, when she heard the first people arrive. She headed out the front with a plate, and a smile on her face.

Seamus walked into the pub, eyes widening at all the decorations. George had certainly gone all out for Katie's party. He looked around the room, noticing not many people had shown up yet.

He gave Romilda a small smile as he saw her come out into the bar. "Ready for a busy night?"

He pulled off his jacket as he walked behind the bar, turning to the rack in the corner to hang it up. He turned back to Romilda, rubbing his hands together.

"What should I be doing right now? Rosmerta give you any orders for me?"

Romilda put down the plate of nibbles when she saw Seamus. "Busy night? If this is anything like our old Gryffindor parties, we'll be run off our feet. I'll be sure to poke you if you forget that you're one of the staff and not one of the customers tonight!"

She nodded at Seamus' question. "Yeah, she wants you to check that the kegs of beer are all set up. There's plenty of it, and apparently George expects quite a few people, so it should be a great party!"

An almighty crash from the kitchen startled Romilda, and she heard a giggle. She turned away from Seamus and stormed back into the kitchen with her hands on her hips.

"Liam Vane, if you are anywhere near that cake, I swear, Rosmerta won't be the only one hexing your fingers together!"

Liam wasn't covered in chocolate, but he was giggling and pointing at the wall.

"Peevesie did it!" he said, in between giggles and clapping his hands.

"Ohhh, Peeves!" she cried, looking at the mess of upturned nibbles sitting in a pile on the table.

Peeves thought about going invisible and leaving the room when he heard Mildew stomping in, but he decided it could be a lot more fun to just stick around.

He smiled as she turned the corner and saw the pile of carrots, celery sticks, and sausage rolls. But then she gave him and exasperated look and he pouted.

"Mildew does not care for Peevesie's tasty array of delightful nibbles? Peevesie arranged them just for you!"

He floated down closer to the table, picking up a small bit of carrot and chucking it at Liam's forehead, cackling as the ickle thing squealed with delight.

He picked up another, a bigger one this time, and threw it at Mildew, hitting her in the shoulder.

Liam liked Peevesie!

He had a funny face, and Liam wanted to learn how he could just float around and disappear through walls. Of course, when his mummy came stomping into the room, he giggled harder.

He had been trying to catch Peeves - he wanted to learn how to do all those things so that he could sneak up on those gnomes at Fleer's house, but Peevesie was a tricksy thing.

"More!" Liam shouted, clapping his hands and squealing in delight as Peeves threw a carrot stick at him.

But it was really funny when Peeves threw a carrot at his Mummy. He hadn't seen her look that angry since that time he poured yogurt all over her hair. That had been an accident!

"Peeves!" She cried, ducking the wrong way and getting struck by the carrot stick. "I can't believe Rosmerta lets you in to this place! Oooh!"

She started to pick up all the party pies and load them again on to the trays. At least the food wasn't on the floor. That was something.

"I won't have you corrupting my son with your bad manners, Peeves!" she said, giving Liam a scolding look.

"Peevesie would do no such thing! Peevesie is teaching the ickle pickle how to throw things. Could come in mighty useful for anything, not just bad manners. Nope." He crossed his arms, staring at Mildew.

He'd been polite by not putting the food on the floor. Only because he liked the ickle pickle, though, and didn't want him to get sick.

Romilda wasn't about to let Peeves get to her - not tonight. Roger was out there, and she wanted to have a smile on her face and to possibly enjoy herself for a bit. Knowing that Peeves wanted to 'play' with Liam was the last thing she needed right now.

"Okay, Peeves, if you want to teach him to throw things, I had better warn you. He's a quick learner, and he'll be only too happy to use you as target practice."

Liam giggled at his Mummy's words, as he picked up one of the carrot sticks to throw back at Peeves. Romilda intercepted it, her face stony. She wanted to scold him, but he looked like he was having fun.

But this was not the time for a food fight. But she could see a headache coming on...

Peeves cartwheeled through the air, stopping just above Mildew's head, but not touching her. "That's what makes it so fun!"

He grinned at the ickle pickle, giving him a wink and urging him silently to throw another carrot.

He cackled as he watched Liam pull his arm back and chuck a carrot as hard as he could, only to be quite dismayed (and slightly impressed) when Mildew caught it in the air.

He floated back in front of her line of vision, crossing his arms and sticking his tongue out at her. "You're no fun at all tonight. You're a lot better when Ali-Oop is around." He pouted, going to float next to Liam.

"My only friend..." He glanced over at the ickle pickle and smiled, handing him a carrot to chew on.

Roger swung into the pub, finding it virtually empty still. Huh. Early, for once, he thought. He spotted Seamus abd Romilda behind the bar, though, and made his way over to them with a grin for the both of them.

"Hey, Romilda. Seamus. You still getting set up? Can I help at all?"

Seamus nodded in Roger's direction as he saw him enter the pub, and then turned back around, watching as Romilda stomped off into the back room. Apparently Peeves was up to no good.

He shook his head, smirking slightly as he turned back round to face Roger.

"Yeah, actually. Want to help me make sure all the kegs are ready?" He pointed to the line of kegs sitting on the counter behind the bar.

"Sure, mate, sounds like a plan." Roger was glad for something to do.

He heard a crash from the kitchen. Looked like Peeves was already causing some ruckus or other. And if Liam was back there...between the two of them, Romilda would run herself ragged, probably. Speaking of Romilda, he turned as she spoke to him.

"Hi Roger," Romilda's smile widened just a little when she saw him. Perhaps the night won't be so bad now, she thought.

"No, you're one of the guests, we're the hired help here." She offered up the plate of party pies, sausage rolls and other nibbles. "Everyone else should be here soon."

"Ask Seamus to get you a drink - make him feel useful," she replied with a wink, and turned back to the mess in the kitchen.

"Good idea." Roger grinned at Romilda. "Think I will."

"Oi, Seamus; I think I like Romilda's request better. You heard her; pull me a Guinness, will you?"

Seamus pouted at Romilda's retreating back and moved back behind the bar, grabbing a pint glass. He shot Roger a fake glare, raising an eyebrow.

"Don't piss off the people that handle your food and drink." He gave him a sly grin as he poured the beer, deciding to be stereotypically corny and tracing a shamrock into the foam.

"Here you go, mate." He sat the glass in front of Roger, and looked up as the door opened and a slightly familiar bloke entered the room and went over to talk to George.

Roger quirked nis mouth up in a grin. "Yeah, you're right, but couldn't resist," he said, taking the beer from Seamus. "Thanks."

He eyed the Shamrock. "Cute," he commented with a nod before he took a sip.

He looked in the same direction Seamus did as the door opened. "Hey, is that Lee Jordan that just came in?"
