I'm not one that usually makes new years resolutions and this year is no different. Although I do want to start eating healthier. I have a tendency to get fixed on a meal or type of food and then eat only that for a month or so and then it bores me and I can't even stand to have it around. (for example, this spring I went on this total carrots, broccoli, and cauliflower with hummus kick for like 2 months and now hummus is so boring to me.) So I need and want to start a diet, not to lose weight; but, to make sure that I get the nutrients that I need. I have done the low-glycemic diet and still kind of follow it (although the fact that I don't really eat grains - which are high glycemic - helps greatly with this); but,I love fruit and most of it is also high-glycemic, so I don't really follow that part of it.
So I have been looking at different life style diets. I was raised on low-fat and low-to-no salt, both of which I still adhere to. (I really don't like salt at all. And though I own some, I never use it in cooking or baking). But I want more. So, in my search I read an interview with the trainer who gets the Victoria's Secret models ready for the live fashion show (which is taped and then played on tv). And he said that he puts all of those girls on the Blood Type Diet. I had never heard of this diet before; but, I figured those girls are gorgeous and in great shape too. I mean they have actual muscle definition (which is always my goal and which my legs currently have and look awesome). They aren't just skinny (naturally or "naturally") girls. So, I looked in to this diet and I'm not sure if it's a load of crap or if it makes sense. You don't have to buy their food or anything. It just kind of tells you what food is good for your blood type. And it was developed by a doctor.
Anyways, I'm type O blood (yes the Red Cross does love me and I do donate often), which apparently is the oldest blood type, which means that I'm a cave man...err...woman. I should be eating meat, which I find funny because I rarely eat meat.
Also, the doctor or someone claims that blood type is also indicative of personality - and from what I've read it seems pretty right on for me; but, then again, I'm also a Gemini and most definitely have the 2 sides of that one. So this is the part that I believe the least.
So these are the 2 websites that I went to and will use in 2011 to help me find a lifestyle diet:
http://www.dadamo.com/ (this one talks about the personality and history of the blood type - under "about the diets")
http://www.drlam.com/blood_type_diet/ (this one allows for you to see what the actual diet based on blood type should be in general and in detail)
Happy New Year!
