It's half seven on a Friday evening; Pepper's begged off further socializing with her fellow interns (mostly older than she is, but naturally Pepper is precocious in her own ways -- have to be, to keep up with Tony) after the early dinner she didn't really mind being talked into. She has errands to run! Laundry to pick up (Tony's), a few things to be mailed (to her parents, and Mr Stane), a last-minute grocery run for a few things needed (Tony's, and also damn it Maria was right about chocolate), etc, etc.

So if anyone happened to want to run into the little redhead with the practical black work pumps and tailored coat trying to get all of this done so she can go home and take the practical black work pumps off, she probably wouldn't mind distraction on her way.
