advice? on returning mistakenly sent merchandise?

so this morning i received an email from Casual-Plus telling me (well i think it was me, the email was addressed to Cindy [my last name], instead of Cynara) that they had accidentally shipped my order to someone else who had received it and that person's order to me.

to make things even more magical, my order is out of stock so before they can send me my order, this person (who may very well live on mars) has to ship the order back to them. but it doesn't stop there. apparently i have to ship the order i receive (which hasn't shown up yet) back to them as well and ONCE they receive my return shipment they will finally send the order I ALREADY PAID FOR to me. the kicker: they want me to pay for the shipping and "promise" to refund me.

now since i'd never ordered from Casual-Plus before and am STILL waiting on my first order (which has, as i said already been charged to my credit card) i am kind of loathe to just pay for return shipping on THEIR MISTAKE and take it on good faith that they will quickly refund me. not to mention the fact that i am going to have to pay DUTY on both stupid packages because THEY refuse to ship as gifts.

isn't this bad customer-service for them to treat me as some sort of mail tree & to refuse to ship my order like i'm some sort of sketchy unreliable jerkface? i wrote back saying that i would much prefer to either RETURN TO SENDER or send the package back COD. is it common for companies to expect you to foot the bill for return shipping on their errors?

DUO has also asked me to do this with the duplicate boots they accidentally sent me and i wrote them saying, basically you guys take COD or you don't get your boots back until i get paid (because hello, shipping boots to the Uk=NOT CHEAP). again, does this make me a bitchy customer? more importantly, do i care.

i'm so pissed y'all. why can't i just pay for my commodities, have my commodities come to me, enjoy and repeat? damn human fallibility getting all up in the way of my cold capitalist enjoyment. :P

capitalism is broken
