Position Overview:

Clothing alterers, sewing professionals and tailors work with individual customers to create or fix clothing according to custom specifications and needs. In this position, the Alternations Specialist will be use their knowledge of fabrics, sewing, fashion and the marketplace in order to produce and alter clothing for customers.
Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

* Sew, join, reinforce, or finish parts of clothing using needles and thread or other materials.
* Trim excess threads or edges of parts, using scissors or knives.
* Draw and cut patterns according to specifications.
* Fold, twist, stretch, or drape material, and secure articles in preparation for sewing.
* Measure and align parts, fasteners, or trimmings, following seams, edges, or markings on parts.
* Use different sewing techniques such as felling, tacking, basting and embroidery.
* Sew buttonholes, or add lace or other trimming.
* Alters clothing to fit individual customers.
* Working knowledge of sewing machines
Qualifications:

Requirements:

* High School Diploma or GED

* At least six (6) months prior sewing/ fitting experience in an alterations or tailoring department
* Maintain specified productivity guidelines
* Strong communication skills, fluency in English mandatory
* Ability to work a flexible schedule that meets the business needs, including evenings and weekends
