It turns out that a few months ago my mom sent a secret email to a select group of people stating that she no longer wants to be called "Bernie," and now prefers to be called "Nadette" (her real name is Bernadette).
My brother got the email, but my sister and I did not. When I confronted her about her secrecy, she just pretended not to know what I was talking about.
I think she knew that I will totally exploit this in comic form if I were to ever find out. She is right.
Today, I got the first email from my parents signed from "Mike and Nadette (formerly known as Bernie)."
And don't even get me started on how my mom separated all her jewelry and tagged each piece with the name of the relative who should get it in case she dies on her upcoming 2-week trip.
