money $ucks! (and canada doesn't) or There then Back via Route 87 South: A Hobbit's Tale

For long-winded, complicated, and crazy reasons (including newly discovered internet fraud!) we are now basically broke. Negative balance in the accounts, about $50 in cash, and painful calls having gone out to family. (Did I mention it sucks to do that at 38?) School starts on the 5th. I've started looking for P/T work, but my background and available skills are pretty non-traditional. I think I can build a small base of orgs that pay me a stipend to teach anti-violence, wellness, and movement-based stuff, but the building will take time.

The good news is that I have a check coming in about two weeks, and telurian starts her new job next week (modest salary, but steady.) I also just got a ride to and from Nolose, which simply makes it more possible to go. We just need to navigate the next two weeks and, though the financial troubles aren't temporary, we should be in a more solid place.

Otherwise - before we knew we'd been duped and had no immediate money coming in - we spend a fabulous few days in Toronto visiting lolaraincoat and fishwhistle! radagast_b, telurian, and I had many the adventure. It was a lovely, much needed respite, bookended by wild day-long road trips there then back with many, many, many yummy garden-grown tomatoes in between (like a tomato sandwich ;)

I had a nasty cold, but even being a little sick there was better than doing it here. (Having a low-grade fever at a rest-stop late at night is a lot like being high, but not as fun.)

Today I'm feeling somewhat better, though still taking it fairly easy. I feel glad and lucky to have my family, and some time to relax and get better, and I love telurian beyond expression *

love, canada, money
