Insta-Update
The nutshell contents of my life since spring:
Family - My mother is happily at home in Costa Rica and is doing well. Sister, brother-in-law, and niece are settled into their new apartment in bucolic Red Hook (thanks to bounce_n_jiggle.) telurian will be starting a new job soon, and we're both trying to find other sources of income.
School - Getting ready for my second year! This semester included one particularly brutal class with an inflexible and inexperienced teacher. A perfectly nice person who didn't communicate expectations clearly and blamed it on the students. Really demoralizing, but we all got through it (and I hope the feedback we gave on the evals is helpful to her.) Otherwise still wonderful *
Health -
Good News: No more back pain, thanks to the fabulous student clinic at school! After seven months of hurting (anything from stiffness and aches to immobilization and spasm) it's amazing and beautiful to me.
Bad News: Fibroids and resulting anemia again. I plan on treating it with herbs, acupuncture, and western medicine combined. I also want to do what I can to avoid surgery.
Summer Highlights - Almost-free concerts in the park, the roof at night, passing my finals, getting out of bed without pain, time with family and friends, reuniting with and reading in front of an old poetry mentor who praised me.
Late Summer Highlights - Fabulous road trip tomorrow to visit the fabulous lolaraincoat on Toronto! And Nolose very soon (yay!)
