James/Lily 130 words

When Lily was upset, it came down on James like the hot rain of a sudden summer storm. To say they quarelled often would be a vast understatement. They were heaven and hell, but James was never able to figure out which was which.

She blew wildly into the kitchen, fixing to give him yet another piece of her mind.

"At least you're sorry, yes?" Arms rigid at her sides. James nodded, nothing more than a battered vessel on her jagged shores, wave-tossed and contrite. Easing into reluctant calm, she bent to kiss his head, the gale over as soon as it had begun. Silently, James promised himself he'd never do it again. Just as soon as he figured out what he'd done to bring on the rain.
