it was an assault on the senses (:
the salty seabreeze billowed, conjuring the earth into a dance of sorts. with an indian recipe of dust, dirt, sand & a thick layer of pungent heat suspended in the air, we tracked down the busy road. stalls to the left consisted of a simple wooden platform & mayb an umbrella. seafood was strewn atop-crabs, fish, more fish..complete with hovering flies. women sat by their stalls, dressed in beautiful wispy layers of blues, megentas, yellows & turquiose, all in the single piece of sari! they stood out so vibrantly against the dull stretch of beach &seaside slums. auto rickshaws, buses & vans whizzed past in a fashion less dramatic than their obligatory honking, out to startle & allowing them to be heard before they were seen or came close ( & boy do they come real close).
this is india, oversimplified. a preview of how incredible india is. for you can never truely say u know her till u've met her, or observe her from the much too divorced & remote comfort of your tv set & couch. u can't possibly understand all of her, from others' travel stories, u need to take her in-sight,sound,smell & all, or she will nvr be complete! & if u're willing, she'll more than welcome you into her heart.
so it continues!
