Hee, more TLG fic

So, two more. One that was on the list, and one that I came up with because of my Classics lesson. I can explain, really.

Title: Debriefing to end all debriefings
Author: rhin_ariel
Rating: T
Summary: It was all going so smoothly, until they mentioned that kiss.
Spoilers: TLG surprisingly.

It was nearly two weeks after the possession of Doctor Weir and Colonel Sheppard by Phoebus and Thalan respectively. Ronon had recovered quickly from his injury and was already back to tutoring in fighting, much to Carson’s annoyance. Elizabeth was back at work as well, though a few members of the Atlantis expedition seemed to believe she shouldn’t be allowed back to work at all. The same applied for John, but he and his team hadn’t gone off world yet. Caldwell silenced most of these people after he had announced he had complete faith in them.

Though some had to question the word of a man who had himself been possessed.

The debriefing was for the main people involved in the ‘situation’. This was John, Elizabeth, Rodney, Ronon, Teyla and Caldwell. All arrived fairly promptly in the conference room, though John was a little late. He came running in to find everyone already sat down at the table.

“Sorry I’m late.”

Elizabeth smiled up at him.

“It’s okay John, we haven’t started.”

“How can we start without him? He’s part of the reason we are having this!”

As John went to sit down next to Elizabeth, he hit Rodney across the back of the head.

“What was that for?”

“You were mocking me and what happened to me.”

“Well why shouldn’t I?”

John sat down and swivelled his chair to look at Rodney.

“One word for you…Cadman.”

Rodney shut up very quickly and turned an interesting shade of red.

“If we’ve all quite finished…”

Caldwell looked around the room, and was glad to find everyone was quiet.

“Thank you. Well, I guess we’d better get this over with. Let’s start at the beginning.

“And that’s a very good place to start.”

John grinned as he said it, and looked around the table. Elizabeth and Carson were smiling, and even Rodney had a slight smile. Caldwell was glaring at him, while Ronon and Teyla just looked confused.

“Thank you for that Colonel, but please, save your obsession with musicals for a more suitable location. Such as your own quarters.”

“Yes sir.”

There was nothing Caldwell could so but roll his eyes and try to carry on.

“This began with the discovery of the two life pods by Sheppard’s team in space. One was brought back to Atlantis so we could examine it further. It turned out to be the body of a woman who was barely alive. When the pod was opened, Doctor Weir went forwards to it, and was hit by a beam from the pod. She then fainted and was taken to the infirmary. Is that all correct so far?”

John held up a hand.

“Yes Colonel?”

“I thought we were calling it passing out from manly hunger instead of fainting?”

This earned him a few more smiles, and even a slight snort of laughter from Carson. Ronon still looked confused, but Caldwell now did as well.

“Doesn’t matter, please carry on sir.”

“Thank you, I think. Doctor Weir awoke in the infirmary, and from this we discovered that the consciousness of the woman in the pod, Phoebus, was controlling her body. We asked to speak with Doctor Weir, and we were led to believe that we were talking to her. However, it was later discovered that this was actually Phoebus.”

Caldwell looked across at Elizabeth.

“This is correct?”

“Yes, Phoebus was in control from the minute she took over my body. It was her talking in the infirmary as well, not me.”

“Okay. It was at this time that Phoebus announced that the other pod discovered could contain the body of her husband Thalan.”

Both John and Elizabeth shifted uncomfortably in their seats, but said nothing.

“The pod was brought in, and Colonel Sheppard agreed to host the consciousness of Thalan. The pod was opened and it was discovered that Thalan was very close to death. Colonel Sheppard then took on the consciousness of Thalan. To continue the rouse that they were in fact husband and wife, Phoebus, in control of Doctor Weir’s body, kissed Thalan, now in full control of Colonel Sheppard’s body.”

“Was it necessary to bring that up Colonel?”

Elizabeth looked at Caldwell pointedly, clearly not wanting to continue this part of the conversation.

“It is part of the events of the day, and we wish to make an account of all events of the day.”

“So let me get this straight,” Ronon began from the other side of the room. “They kissed each other, but technically it wasn’t them doing the kissing.”

“Exactly.”

Carson nodded his head as he spoke, but John didn’t want to hear anymore.

“I really don’t think we need to continue this.”

“I’m just asking Colonel. I wasn’t there after all.”

Ronon sat back in his chair smiling, clearly enjoying the discomfort that John was going through. He glanced across to see Elizabeth was blushing a little. This was something he could clearly have some fun with.

“So, while we were busy getting ourselves sorted after bringing in that pod, the body in that pod was busy kissing people?”

“That’s exactly what happened. Though it was a little less kissing, and more her jumping him.”

Elizabeth looked up in shock at Rodney’s comment. It certainly wasn’t something she’d expected to hear coming from his mouth.

“What? It’s true.”

Teyla looked across at Elizabeth and blinked a few times.

“You jumped him?”

“I did not jump him!”

“You did.”

John glared across at him and tried to put some authority in his voice.

“Rodney, stop it!”

“Why? Embarrassed?”

Rodney grinned as John’s eyes darted away. Apparently there was something far more interesting on the far wall. With that, Rodney turned back to Elizabeth.

“You did jump him Elizabeth. In fact I was quite surprised you didn’t try to rip his shirt off or something.”

Now Elizabeth looked mortified. Ronon was finding this more and more amusing as things continued. Teyla didn’t understand why they were all so set upon humiliating John and Elizabeth. Caldwell just sat back quietly watching the escalating situation.

“Well, they were apparently husband and wife so I didn’t see anything wrong with it. I mean, that was what they were talking about, hopeless romantics.”

Everyone turned to look at Carson as he spoke. Ronon shook his head.

“Hopeless romantics?”

“That’s what John called Elizabeth, and then she said it to him just before he let Thalan take over his body.”

Teyla smiled softly.

“That doesn’t seem like such a bad thing.”

Rodney was smirking again.

“And then she jumped him.”

John finally snapped and turned on Rodney.

“You egotistical, arrogant, overbearing son of a…”

“John!”

Elizabeth turned to John as she shouted at him. Her eyebrows were raised in shock at the way John was speaking.

And how quickly this debriefing was falling apart.

“Sorry.”

John looked down at his feet and tried to avoid Elizabeth’s glare.

“Thank you. Now is it possible that we could continue this meeting in a mature way?”

“Doubt it.”

Ronon was leaning back in his chair grinning.

“Ronon, why must you continue to disrupt this meeting?”

Teyla had completely turned away from the table and was sitting looking at Ronon.

“Because it’s fun seeing the looks on their faces whenever someone mentions the kiss.”

Elizabeth and John both visibly squirmed in their seats, and Elizabeth’s face began to go bright red.

“See what I mean?”

“Lad, it’s not nice to deliberately embarrass someone.”

“Lad? I am not a lad.”

Ronon shifted forward slightly in his seat looking very angry.

“Ronon,” Teyla reached out and placed a restraining hand on his arm. “It is just the way he speaks, it is not an insult.”

“I don’t care, he called me a lad!”

Carson tried to move back a little in his seat to get away from the angry looking Ronon.

“Look, I didn’t mean it like that!”

“Ronon, please stop this!”

Teyla tried to calm Ronon down, but it wasn’t working.

“You may as well leave it Teyla.”

“And why is that Colonel Sheppard?”

“He’s not going to listen.”

“He might.”

John sighed and shook his head.

“When has Ronon ever listened to anything we’ve ever said?”

“Colonel, I do not believe you are being fair.”

“I happen to agree with him.”

Rodney spoke out, though he didn’t look at anyone in particular.

“Rodney.”

Elizabeth looked across at him, her head tipped to one side.

“Don’t talk to me in that tone of voice.”

“What tone?”

“That tone, the one that says obey me.”

“Obey me?”

Elizabeth raised both eyebrows and stared at Rodney.

All of a sudden, everyone in the room was on their feet shouting at each other. Ronon was shouting at Carson, who was trying to back away. Teyla and John were shouting at each other, while Teyla tried to restrain Ronon. Elizabeth was trying to talk calmly to Rodney, but they soon resorted to back biting and insults.

Caldwell leaned forward on the table and put his head in his hands.

“You overbearing idiot!”

“You stuck up scientist!”

“Don’t tell me what to do!”

“Why the hell should I listen to you?!”

“Who on earth do you think you are?!”

“Don’t be so utterly stupid!”

Caldwell stood up and let out a loud sigh.

“Stop arguing!”

His voice carried over the din created by the arguments in the room. All the people in the room quickly fell silent.

“Thank you. Now can we sit down?”

Very quickly, they all sat down and looked awkwardly at the table.

“Thanks you. It clearly seems that there is no way this meeting can continue without this becoming an argument, so I think we should just leave it there. Is that okay?”

Everyone nodded, and a few people mumbled some sort of response.

“Good. Then I think everyone can go.”

Quickly, the team members stood up and went to leave.

“One thing before you all go.”

The team turned back to look at Caldwell and watched him slowly.

“After these events, we had cameras and microphones installed in the main rooms in Atlantis, and many of the corridors. The whole of this meeting has been recorded. Therefore, I suggest you all behave more responsibly and maturely once you leave this room. After all, we wouldn’t want all of Atlantis to find out about your behaviour.”

With a nod, most of the team left quietly, though John and Elizabeth waited until the end.

“You’re not really going to release any part of that meeting are you?”

John spoke with a smile, and Elizabeth slightly nodded her head in agreement.

“Why, afraid Atlantis will find out about that kiss?”

Elizabeth opened her mouth to argue, but John quickly grabbed her arm.

“Best to leave now I think.”

John muttered it quietly and dragged Elizabeth out of the room.

Caldwell sat and smiled to himself. He was definitely glad to be back. Though, he was going to have a slight problem if they actually figured out there was no recording equipment in the room. But he probably had a couple of days before that happened. And at least he could probably use the meeting to still keep them quiet.

And he could still use that kiss to keep Sheppard and Weir quiet.

Title: Fairest Goddess
Author: rhin_ariel
Rating: T. Definitely T.
Summary: A chance discovery about a certain name leads to some interesing comparisons. And even more interesting situations.
Notes: Well, this has a slight story to it. I do Classic Civilizations at college, so I do about Greek gods and things. Anyway, we just started a new play, and there on the first page was the name Phoebus. Cue me nearly falling off my chair backwards...and then the plot bunnies got me. Any questions about the gods/mythology mentioned in this fic, just ask.
Spoilers: TLG...again.

Elizabeth was sitting in her office thinking when John walked in. At first she didn’t even notice he was there. In fact, she didn’t even notice he was there until he sat on her desk and waved a hand in front of her eyes.

“Oh, hello John.”

“Hey there, nice to know you’re still with us.”

Elizabeth sat back in her chair and smiled up at him. It was getting late, and people were already heading toward their quarters. John found it amazing that Elizabeth didn’t look that tired, in fact, she didn’t look at all tired.

“Thinking hard?”

“You could say that. It’s just there was something.”

“Something?”

“It’s nothing John.”

“No, really, what is it?”

“Well, if you must know, it’s about the name Phoebus.”

“You really want to think about that?”

“Not really, it’s just that the name. I’m sure it’s something to do with an ancient civilization and a myth or something. I really can’t remember though. We could really do with Daniel here at times like this.”

John folded his arms and raised an eyebrow.

“Daniel?”

“Doctor Daniel Jackson. The archaeologist from the SGC.”

“Oh yeah, him.”

Elizabeth shook her head and tried to understand John’s comment.

“You know Elizabeth, we do have other experts on ancient cultures here on Atlantis with us.”

John smirked as he saw the realisation on Elizabeth’s face.

“I forgot about that. One minute.”

Reaching out, Elizabeth grabbed her laptop from next to John and quickly began to type. After a few moments, she sat back and looked back up at John.

“Hopefully, someone should still be awake and I should get a reply very soon.”

“Think it means something?”

“What?”

“Phoebus, do you think it means something?”

“I don’t really know, I just know that it sounds…”

She stopped speaking as there was a sound from her laptop. She tapped a few buttons and smiled.

“Well, we’ve got a reply. Apparently Phoebus is another name for the Greek god Apollo.”

“Apollo. And he was?”

“If I remember rightly, Apollo is the Greek god of the sun. He was also god of music and poetry. However, it was also believed that he was the god of disease and plague. He had the power to kill a lot of people in one go, just like our Phoebus.”

Elizabeth’s face fell and she looked down at the laptop screen. John reached out and laid a hand on her shoulder.

“You are nothing like that Elizabeth.”

She looked up with a slight smile.

“Thanks John.”

“Come on, I think it’s time you stopped working.”

With a nod, Elizabeth shut down her laptop and stood up to leave.

“Besides,” John began with a smile.” Apollo had a twin sister, Artemis. Maybe it’s that you are more like her.”

“You know that?”

“You’re not the only one who knows about ancient cultures. So come on, who’s Artemis?”

John and Elizabeth left the office together while she thought for a second.

“Artemis. Artemis was the goddess of the moon and hunting.”

John nodded, “Anything else?”

“And she…well it’s nothing.”

Elizabeth coughed slightly and hurried to the transporter doors. John dived in after her and waited for the doors to shut.

“I know what this is about.”

“What?”

John reached across and hit the button to take them to the personal quarters. They were transported there and Elizabeth quickly stepped out.

“Really John, what is this about then?”

“Artemis was a virgin goddess. You’re embarrassed to say it.”

“Oh please, that’s not true.”

“Then why are you blushing?”

Elizabeth turned away and hurried towards her quarters. With a sigh, John ran to catch up with her.

“Look, Elizabeth, I’m sorry. Maybe we can compare you to another Greek goddess.”

She stopped outside the door to her quarters and smiled up at him.

“Why should I?”

“Because then you can do it to me.”

She put her head on one side, thinking about it for a moment.

“Fine, we can discuss it in my quarters if you want.”

John couldn’t resist smirking at her.

“Don’t start John.”

Now he used the puppy dog eyes on her, the one thing she couldn’t say no to.

“Fine.”

Elizabeth reached across and waved a hand across the panel to open the door. She walked in and let the lights come on slowly. John followed her in and let the door shut behind him.

“Nice. Very nice.”

“John, it looks just like your quarters but with different decoration. In fact, there’s practically no decoration in here.”

As she pulled off her jacket, she turned to look at him. He was stood at the door still glancing around the room.

“You can get yourself comfortable you know. Just sit on the bed or something. But please, take off your boots if you’re going to do that.”

She placed her jacket over the back of her chair and set about pulling her own boots off. She glanced across to see John was doing as she’d suggested and taking his boots off. Elizabeth also pulled her socks off and stuffed them into her boots.

“Any reason for losing the socks too?”

Elizabeth stood up straight and looked across at John.

“My feet have been aching all day, I wanted to see the damage caused by those boots. Besides, you’ve got no socks on either.”

“I don’t wear them.”

“Fair enough.”

The pair of them moved across and sat down on the end of the bed. Elizabeth pulled on leg up onto the bed and faced John.

“Now, if I remember rightly, we were comparing me to Greek goddesses.”

“Oh yeah. Let’s see…I think you’re most like Athena.”

“Goddess of war? Thanks John.”

“I was thinking more about the fact that she’s also the goddess of wisdom.”

“I think I can deal with that.”

John sat back slightly and grinned.

“I hoped you would. The only other goddess I can remember right now is Aphrodite. Though, I could fit that to you.”

“And how would you do that?”

“Red is a colour of lust, and that’s what Aphrodite was the goddess of. And guess what colour shirt you always wear.”

“I’m not sure whether I appreciate that John.”

A smirk from John clearly showed that his mind belonged in the gutter.

“Come on then, which god am I most like?”

“Well, sometimes you’re like Apollo yourself.”

“I bring disease?”

“No.”

Elizabeth let out a slight laugh.

“Even in the darkest of storms, the sun is always there. Whatever happens, you always have a joke or something to say, however bad things are. You’re like the sun.”

She could see the smug smile developing on his face already.

“However John, sometimes you are like Ares, the god of war. You always manage to come back from a planet having made a new enemy John at least every so often.”

Elizabeth had hoped that would wipe the smile of his face. But instead, he began to smirk.

“What is it John?”

“You really don’t know your myths as well as you should, do you?”

He moved forward a little, slowly closing the gap between them.

“Well, you said I was like Ares, and I said I could compare you to Aphrodite.”

He moved forward a little further so his leg touched hers. Elizabeth could feel her heart pounding in her chest.

“Aphrodite was married to Hephaestus, but she wasn’t satisfied with him. He was crippled you see. So, she began a passionate and torrid affair with Ares.”

Elizabeth nodded her head slightly.

“Oh, I…I never knew that.”

John reached out a hand and cupped her cheek gently.

“They say Aphrodite was the most beautiful of all the goddesses. Maybe that’s another way you’re like her. And I think I can find another thing that makes me like Ares.”

Elizabeth let out a slight gasp, which was quickly cut off by John moving in and capturing her lips. The kiss was gentle at first, but quickly became heated and fiercer.

John hand moved from her cheek and he ran it through her hair roughly. Elizabeth matched him by reaching up and running her hands through his tangle of hair. John’s free hand had been on the bed, but now he moved that too. He placed it on her knee before slowly running it up her leg, his fingers ghosting along the inside of her thigh.

She gasped into his mouth and her eyes shot open, but he didn’t relent the assault on her mouth. His hand moved a little further up and then stopped at the base of her bright shirt. Her whole body felt like it was on fire, and it especially burned where she could feel John’s fingers on her body. Her head felt like it was spinning and her vision refused to focus. It was the most intense feeling she had ever felt in her life.

And then, he pulled back and looked at her.

Her eyes were brighter than he had seen them in a long time. Her hair was messy and unruly, which he had never seen. Her cheeks were flushed and her breathing was ragged.

“You know, maybe you’re more like Aphrodite than you care to admit. After all, the other two goddesses I compared you two were virgin goddesses. Pure maidens. You don’t look like much of a pure maiden.”

“I have a feeling I’m definitely not going to be looking like a pure maiden when you’ve finished with me.”

“Make no mistakes.”

With a flash of the cocky flyboy grin she knew so well, John began to kiss her fiercely once more. And then his hand slowly pushed up under her bright red shirt.
