Holtz meets her gaze, then looks out at the so-called fighters practicing in the yard. Soccer moms, bank managers, one guy Justine found pouring lattes in Starbucks with hollow eyes. "No. Does that bother you?"
Justine shakes her head. "Gotta break a few eggs to make an omelette.They're too soft, they still have something to lose." Justine tentatively puts her hand on his. "Not like us."
He caresses her calloused fingers. He doesn't smile, but she sees something deep in his eyes.
