Prompt: 022: The Gatekeeper
Characters/Pairing: The good ol' Scooby Gang plus Oz
A/N: Hey guys! It's been a while, my muse took a nap. You may be interested to know that I came up with the name for the demon by rearranging the letters of Yahtzee cause the game was nearby.
“Here!” Giles said. “I found it.”
Buffy, Willow and Xander looked at him expectantly. Oz snarled from inside his cage.
“It appears that the demon that has been running amok in Sunnydale is none other than a dread Haetzey demon. It comes from the third circle of hell and apparently has a fondness for lost socks...” The librarian removed his glasses.
“Alright. So where do I find this big, bad… sock eating thing….” Buffy asked.
“A Laundromat, perhaps?” Xander quipped.
Giles blinked. “Yes, actually.” He said.
“Great. Giles, you keep on… Gilesing. Will, hit the net, I want every Laundromat in Sunnydale.” Buffy commanded.
“What about me?” Xander asked.
“You… keep an eye on Oz.” She said weakly.
Giles went into the back to browse his private collection, Willow and Buffy went off to find an Ethernet cable and Xander was left alone. Almost.
“Well, Oz, I guess it’s just you and me.” Xander said, leaning up against the book cage.
Oz snarled and threw himself against the door of the cage, causing Xander to jump back.
“Hey, hey!” he said. He flexed. “You do not scare me! For I am Xander, keeper of the gate! You shall not pass!”Xander brandished a nearby yardstick at the werewolf.
He suddenly felt watched and turned towards the door to the library.
Willow and Buffy watched him from the doorway.
Xander blushed and dropped the yardstick. He laughed nervously.
“Um. Forgot the key to the computer lab…” Willow said. She quickly entered the library and grabbed the key from the counter.
“Carry on, gatekeeper.” Buffy said over her shoulder as they walked off down the hall.
