You know how my last entry was all about being comfortable here? Oh man...it's reaching new levels! Sandra and David have friends from England here this week, so tonight we all went out to dinner at this really nice restaurant in town. I was looking a little scrubby, but I did my best to look nice. So OF COURSE when we got there, our waiter was one of the hottest men I've ever seen. And with an accent. Seriously, I can't even describe it. If that wasn't bad enough, Sandra started telling him that we had an international table, and that I was from America. Then David says, "If you give her a free bottle of wine, she'll get up on the table and sing the national anthem. And she's wearing knickers with stars and stripes on them, which I'm sure she'll show you once she gets enough of that free wine in her!" Oh. My. God. It was so funny! But I couldn't help but blush, because the guy's reaction was just, "Reeeeeaally? Hmmm..." Jeez...Plus, Sandra is going away for a week, and David (very loudly) says, "I don't know why you're so worried about leaving her alone with me...What about her? What if she tries to seduce me?" Too funny...
Random story I forgot to tell before. In my second week at school, I had the following conversation with a teacher (before realizing he didn't have an Aussi accent):
Him: "So, what part of the states are you from?"
Me: "Minnesota."
Him: "Oh, where in Minnesota?"
Me: "Minneapolis."
Him: "Oh, really? I went to St. Thomas."
Me (finally realizing he didn't sound funny): "What? Are you serious?"
Him: "Yeah, I'm from Alexandria."
Can you believe that? Talk about SMALL world!
