It's really hard to express my feelings in a public journal, and I feel I will always come across wrong.
I'm not in this for hollow reasons. Eric and I have a long history, and he refuses to look elsewhere no matter how much his mother or I have encouraged him. I prayed about it, and one day it just felt right to finally say yes. Honestly, most people date more than one person before they marry...and Eric is only my first boyfriend. I think it's harder to feel excitement because I'm so wrapped up in figuring out what's going to come first after my debts are paid and I've lost my weight...mission or school. My eyes are so focused there that marriage doesn't feel right at this time. I'm not ruling out any possibility...I'm just not the kind that dates someone and three weeks later is engaged.
I love Eric, I care about Eric, but my imagination and individual dreams clash. There's nothing wrong with dating him for now, though, to see what may develop, and he knows where I stand as I remind him often. If I find someone I truly feel compelled to meet [this is why I'm anti-PDA for fear of missing that], then I will date them, as well.
It's so weird. The world seems to date serially. When I date, it turns into this huge serious senario and I freak out about how people view me. :\
Thanks for the clarification, and I appologize if I gave offense. I TOTALLY agree with dating others, and having relationships, before settling down with the one you are going to marry. And I do see that you did not just jump into this without a thought, you have carefully made this decision.
Hey, enjoy this time in your life! All you need to do is keep tabs on where you are at, where he is at, and what the spirit directs. Don't spend a second thought on what all the rest of us think- ESPECIALLY we residents of online-ville. :)
