Happy Birthday Shannon!!!!

No fun graphics, just a heart song from me to you. I was thinking about you the other day and this came forward:

Makin' it,, Shannon's Song

Ooh girl you're makin' it, makin' it, makin' it...

Coming into this world,
face first /your cheeks/ they
feel the cold of the air the first
semblance of pain soon

follows.

With a slap,
fromaman,
on the backside.

You cry and wonder:
(wonder and cry, mostly cry)

Was the pain necessary for the release?
Am I to be blamed for this belief?

Of things better yet to come?

So

All these years later
a raindrop weaves
and winds it's way down your window
and as you wonder the same from before all over again

You subconsciously wipe your cheek.

Ooh girl you're makin' it, makin' it, makin' it

The advertisement for life was misleading
You find yourself less wanting than needing
Your "faith-in-humanity" line is receding
But the waters still remain.

I can understand what you're saying
when you say love is only sleeping
when using the symbology of praying
it's your sanity that you're keeping

Discarded tissue packets
Sit on your window frame.
You’ve mops and plugs and stops
But the waters still remain.

Remain.

***

They call to you
but you are repelled, by a fear
an experience that was frightening
something scary calling you near
Terrorizing your heart like lightening.
(they say that admitting you have a problem is the first step, but they forget to tell you how to put on your shoes)

***

To defeat you show a recalcitration
The myth of an end misguides your hopes
Defeat is just a manifestation
Of what can come when you throw in the ropes.

Of forgotten and/or discarded goals.
Of which you’ve been improperly aligned
The many broken promises and
Unending pain which you never deigned.

But you

You my dear you keep fighting.
Reaching from a past that’s broken and yet
You push forward ever mighty
Challenging every foe you haven’t met.
(your only flaw is that you’ve mistaken your goals for endpoints
When really, each end is just the beginning.)

***

A new adventure awaits you
You can see it from afar
Don’t worry, my dear, about trying to make it.
When you already, already are…

Makin’ it makin’ it makin’ it makin' it.
