The English language ALREADY HAS a word to describe the action of making a present of something to someone: the word is TO GIVE. The object of this verb is a GIFT. it's interesting, though, that the verb "to regift" is more intelligible than "to regive"

Yes, definitely--syntactically. My main objections to the verb "gift" come from an emotional, rather than rational, place. I'm in that weird language boat where I both want and do not want constant linguistic change. :)
