Two days until the election! OMFG I AM SO EXCITED! LIKE AN IDIOT I didn't register up here in time and I most certainly can't go back to MS just to vote, so I'll have to do my part in being positive while ALL OF YOU who aren't too cool to vote should do so on Tuesday!

OMFG THEY ARE SO CUTE

And yeah yeah yeah I'm sure some white punk who grew up in an upper-middle class suburb is gonna chime in at some point in the next two days and tell me all about why I should never ever vote. I already did the "don't vote" thing, already walked around telling disenfranchised people not to do one very simple thing that exercises their rights, even if it doesn't really "matter" in the grand scheme. I feel like the importance of speaking up for oneself is totally lost on a subculture that's already remarkably fucking loudmouthed while not even being that oppressed. Punks choose poverty: they move out of their family's mansions in Bethesda and go into Petworth DC to live in falling-apart rowhouses just to make them feel better about running their mouths so much about working class issues when they aren't even that. It's pretty condescending, and I wish that punx would just get the fuck over themselves enough to see the benefit of having Barack, Michelle, Malia, and Natasha Obama in the White House. I don't even know if it's possible for the general punk public (who don't have people of color in their lives - I'm seriously the only fucking Black person walking around here) to understand what I'm talking about. I mean yeah yeah yeah presidents suck and the government sucks, but my opinion on this election has nothing to do with those things or my lifelong motivation to be a rebel. It's more about the truly overflowing love I feel for my community and my very sincere desire to see us finally shake off the stigma of our entrance into America and really show people that we are equals. And as much as you might hate voting and elections and politicians, a win for Obama will mean good things for Black America.
