The last couple of years, I've greeted the New Year with a sense of "meh", basically as I've felt that the preceeding twelve months had been pretty much wasted - but this year is different. I've actually achieved something in 2006 - and that's to get a new job. It's still theoretically "provisional", as certain checks and references need to be completed, but nonetheless, the first part of 2007 will see me return to London, as has long been my wish. The fact that the salary is very nice and the prospects for advancement are massive are both big added bonuses. There are things I'm going to miss about Northern Ireland - not least of which are my family, and some good friends - but the positives outweigh the negatives, and I'm really looking forward to getting back to the city as soon as possible. I've got a bunch of friends on the mainland that I'm looking forward to socialising with regularly again, and London is that hub of entertainment where there'll always be gigs and/or wrestling shows to go to and look forward to. It's going to be great to live again.
On a smaller scale, I'm quite proud that me and MOJ have managed to create a buzz over our wrestling radio show, $&M - something which has genuinely surprised both of us. It's good fun to do, and whether or not we're still doing it this time next year, it's something else to look forward to continuing in 2007.
So yeah, 2006 was pretty good - and 2007 looks to be better. Hope it's a great one for anyone else who reads this journal too.
