Some Thoughts for the New Year

Jan 05, 2008 14:57

Well, here it is five days into 2008 and so far things are going pretty well. Here's my first (and perhaps longest) entry of the year.

- MURRAY wants to come visit, so I'm picking him up tomorrow and he's gonna stay at my apartment for a few days. I'm pretty pumped about it. I bet Ian's jealous.

- I'm gonna miss having Eric around to play spades this semester. He's going to come visit on weekends, so that'll be cool. Other friendships are going okay for the most part. A few have some new stress and tension on the surface which is never good, while others have the same old problems as always. New Year's Resolution #5: Fix 'em. The rest are going great, and I'm looking forward to another great year with Andrew, Casey, and others.

- I went camping in Tennessee in the hopes of spotting snow the day after Christmas. It worked and there were quite a few nice little mounds of white fluff sprinkled throughout the mountains, but then I found out yesterday that sleet/snow was spotted just east of Greenville while I was gone. I doubt I missed much, but now I feel like we need a real snow day again this year here. Early February would be nice. I'm just sayin...

- ACC football sure took a turn for the worse at the end of the year. Of the 8 ACC teams that made bowl appearances, only 2 (BC and Wake Forest) pulled off wins. The losses were at least close (5 out of 6 were by 7 points or less), but losing to teams like Fresno State and Texas Tech just doesn't look good for the conference. As long as Davis sticks around and Tommy learns a little bit over the summer, we should be very good contenders next year. In the meantime, we'll have to live with a few months of basketball to see the Tigers compete.

- I really need to get back on a normal sleep schedule. I've been gettin up as early as 7am or as late as 10 and going to bed as early as midnight and as late as 4am (most recently, this morning). I end up zombified half the time but never bored/tired enough to take a nap. Classes start Wednesday, so I'm going to work on fixing that this weekend.

That's probably enough for now. More soon, I promise!
