I went to Border's yesterday and bought four books:
(1) The Road, by Cormac McCarthy
(2) What Would the Founders Do?, by Richard Brookhiser
(3) Deep Survival: Who lives, who dies, and why, by Laurence Gonzales
(4) Benjamin Franklin: An American Life, by Walter Isaacson

I've already read The Road, as it was written very sparsely and I'm horrifically captivated by post-apocalyptic fiction. I must say it was the depressingest book I've ever read, and I read Schindler's List right after I finished a re-reading of Night. The Road rather reminded me of Grave of the Fireflies as it was mostly about sad, inevitable deaths and starvation.
I prefer when the apocalypse is caused by zombies, because usually you just have to shoot them in the head and everything's okay.
And no, I haven't yet read World War Z because I forget to buy it everytime I go to the bookstore.

I began reading What Would the Founders Do? tonight, and it's just passable reading. I hate how the author is so equivocal about everything, essentially saying over and over, for every topic he discusses, "well...they'd be hesitant to do that but they might" or "they would do that, but they wouldn't be happy about it" or "some of the founders would do it and some wouldn't."
I don't care if the history he uses to say George Washington would be in favor of NAMBLA is laughable; I just want to know! I don't want hemming and hawing! Does Scalia hem and haw when he says the founders would execute babies? NO! He's very quivocal.

Oh shit; House is on.
Got to watch that.

I bought tickets to see David Sedaris in October. $45 each. The first (and so far only) time I saw him at a reading, it was free in a gay bookstore in north Lakeview, in Chicago. Now it's $45. Oh inflation! When I was a kid, a smile and a joke in French would get a hilarious author to quip about your "ginger hair" which was actually the first time I heard about ginger hair. Go figure.

Alright. Can't take. Hugh Laurie.
