It's been a busy day for me today. I had wanted to bleed the braking system on Hermione as the pedal travelled a bit too far towards the floor for my liking, and I reckoned there was some air in the hydraulics causing that. So.... started bleeding the brakes. I have a handy one man bleeding kit from my mechanic days. 1st rear wheel - fine. Next one- found the brake flexi hose twisted, so had to sort that out first before bleeding, then found another twisted on the other side. Not sure what kinda dope worked on the brakes last time round! The people who sold the van to me told me that they'd had all new brake cylinders replaced on the rear, so whoever there mechanic is wants shooting. Anyway, got to the front and noticed that one of the brake discs was really badly corroded on the inside. Dammit, I should have checked the insides when I was looking the van over and I could have haggled some money off for that, but it was pissing down that day. So, result is that I have both front discs stripped off and will make attempts to get them skimmed tomorrow. This means I'll need to postpone the garage report until Tuesday, but there's no point putting the van in for an inspection when it's not quite right. I'll fit new pads while I'm at it and then the brakes should be tip top. Nothing worse than trying to stop a 4 tonne motorhome in an emergency!
Tomorrow is also laundry, shopping, water refilling and toilet cassette emptying day! Oh the joyous parts of mobile living.....
I tried in vain to get my microwave oven to fit into the cupboard under the sink today but it's just a bit too big, although in fairness, I can easily do without a microwave oven. Remember the days growing up when only rich people had such space age gadgets? Speaking of gadgets...... also made an effort to get the satellite Tv working, but alas to no avail. Bloody neighbours have huge conifers in the way which are blocking the line of sight to the satellite. Hmmmm.... the other option is to re-site the van nearer to the house. Sod it. I can manage without for another 4 weeks.
Right. Time for bed. Need to set the alarm early to get more done tomorrow!
