Haha...
I've found that sleeping in the van during the day after finishing a night shift is ok initially, but as the day progresses, it starts to get bright and that wakes me up. Well, what did I find today? Only a blackout blind on the offending skylight! It was there all the time..... hmmmm. I've found that with all the blackouts down on the windows, plus the one on the skylight and the concertina door of the bedroom closed that it's now perfect for sleeping in during the daytime. Yay!
I've also cranked up the temperature in the boiler up full, with the result that less hot water has to be used in the mixer for the shower, which makes the shower warm water last a lot longer. Someone else had posted on a forum I subscribe to, that they just leave their boiler on all the time. It's thermostatically controlled, but realistically, I don't need huge volumes of instant hot water unless I'm using the shower. So, in order to save gas, I just boil a kettle. An old fashioned whistling kettle....
I'm still in the process of moving things around and finding homes for all the bits and pieces and have found that the huge space between the driver's seat and the side wall is perfect for my laundry basket! The things that you find you really need when full-timing in a motorhome....
Started using the van to work the last couple of days in order to give it a decent run after it had been lying up. She's going really well, but a couple of small jobs need doing; the horn is erratic and the electric step is still playing up, even after being threatened with the big malky (hammer). If it's dry this weekend, I'll tackle that and I also intend to bleed the brakes as they feel a bit spongy, so I must remember to buy brake fluid tomorrow. I found the source of the leak which had caused the carpet that used to be in the kitchen area to become wet. The small skylight has a little drip coming from one corner, so I'll need to get up on the roof and re-mastic that.
Hermione is booked into the local Peugeot dealer on Monday for an engineers report for the insurers. The service manager was a bit reluctant to take her on due to the sheer size, but agreed after I suggested he just use axle stands to raise the wheels rather than the lift. Hopefully all should be ok. I'm a small bit concerned about the headlamps, as they're still the LHD models, but I think I've sourced a supplier for replacement RHD ones should I need them. Meantime, I'm just going to mask off the kick up points on the lenses so that I'm not blinding anyone!
