Last night Christene and I went to the Greenland Cafe on Washington St. We had gone food shopping and when we got home realized one of the ingredients we thought we had at home, we did but it had expired. The difference between yvette and violette is really striking -- as you point out, one is really a perfume and the other is a liqueur -- but both are good to have after decades without either.

However, for Noble Spirits I can recommend none other than Federal on State street next to the old city hall, voted best in America by Whiskey magazine.

Hugos is next door to Rabelais and we've been looking for an excuse to look at their bar menu. They're another of those St. Germain spots but something called the "Austrian on Vacation" was a big hit last time -- hope we're in town when you all are!
