Black flagged at the last lap
So I was all set to get my DS Lite today. I had everything arranged. I called eight places, and the last one finally said they had one in stock. I asked the girl to hold it for me. So it's a 45 minute drive to that store... so what? I can handle it.
So I drive down there, get out my trade-ins. Aside from the clerks being slightly inept, it goes fine. My DS Lite is there on the counter. I can reach out and touch it. It's... so... beautiful.
"Do you have your power cable?"
... excuse me?
"Your power cable, for your DS trade-in. We need it to do the trade."
Fuck! Okay, I forgot it. The young man explains that I could just buy one of their used power cables, get $10 less on my trade-in. No big deal in my mind, I figure, so I say go for it. He and his comrade look around and around and... find no power cable.
"Sorry, we can't do the trade. You could still get it, and trade your DS later."
Yeah, but it's not like I'm going to get reimbursed for the credit later, you douche. All that would mean is I'd have to buy a game here. So I left. Empty-handed.
One of the other seven stores I called said they expect another shipment in tomorrow. This time, I'm remembering the fucking cable.
