What if God was none of us?

 During a recent time of weakness (and vulnerability), I found myself almost pleading to god in the same way I would have done many years ago.  It wasn't a conscience "time to pray for help" kind of thing, more of a knee-jerk reaction to those dark moments we all experience from time to time when things get rough ( Read more... )

it's a double-edged sword when i say, truthfully, to people: "I envy people with faith."

What's most important when dealing with abstract issues of philosophy is to keep an open mind and to acknowledge our own intellectual shortcomings. Often in life there is overwhelming evidence of "this" or "that", and we build a framework for our lives around those understandings. What it comes down to is that we know jack about anything, except convenient truths that allow us to build a "reality". There is a knowledge that is gained through our experience, for certain, but even that "knowledge" exists to explain a particular moment in time. Also, I'd never suggest that anyone look to a particular (credible) faith over another ( ... )
