My summer suddenly started being so much more eventful. There's a lot.
Went to Chicago Saturday with Misti. We went and got pizza at Milano's. The absolute best pizza *ever* invented. The sad part about eating pizza that good is it redefines for you what good food is. I'm definitely *not* satisfied anymore with the pizza available in Bloomington. It's ok as far as something quick to eat and live, but I'm ruined on thinking of it as something to look forward to.
We played on a playground. That was extremely fun. Probably way more fun than it should be. I'll post some pictures later when I put them on the computer. There were even posters up showing how you could have a full workout using the playground equipment. I managed to shock me, Misti, and my cell phone bad enough that I really didn't think my cell phone would survive after I came down the slide. I got Weird Science hair from it.
A couple kids came and played on the playground too while we were there. I didn't notice whether or not they were responsible for the mostly empty gallon of Jack Daniels that was tucked away on a tower. These kids weren't even 12 though, so it's kind of a sad thought.
Then we went downtown and walked around and did some shopping for a while. I saw some Pantera board shorts that I seriously debated getting to use as fight shorts. Since they were $50 though I decided not to. I wasn't really that big on the design, I just wanted Pantera fight shorts because most board shorts are cheesy floral prints which are getting pretty old to me.
Finally the main event.
WE SAW THE TOSSERS!
Seriously, most of you have no idea who they are so you have no idea just how cool this was. I'm really not a punk fan generally, but something about punk versions of traditional Irish folk songs just really touches my fun-button. To top it off, for a very small-time band they put on easily one of the top 5 shows of the hundreds of bands and concerts I've seen. I really can't say enough about how much fun this was.
I was kinda surprised there even turned out to be a mosh pit. It was small but fun cause I was drunk and stupid. Everyone was at least twice my size. One of them told me that I was "like a human wrecking-ball." That made me giggle.
After the show we met the tin whistle player and the lead singer/mandolin player. I'm sure I made an idiot out of myself because I was drunk. So it goes.
When I sobered up Misti and I started our long trip home with some hooker making rude comments at us as we drove by. So we drove back around the block and pointed out that, as a hooker of doubtable success, she's not in much of a position to be judgmental.
It was a really great time. Almost definitely the highlight of my summer and probably the year.
The exceptionally long trip home, though, was another story.
