Black Friday and folks full of turkey and waiting in line to snaga deal in one of the most diabloical days created by our consumerism while our soldiers and people overseas continue to die for our limited so-called freedom

Amen brother. You know, I love to buy stuff but I just can't bring myself to do it anymore. Family asks me what I want and I'm like...well...I have everything I need. I guess I could use the Black & Decker AccuMark... They ask if I need socks and undies...well I have some. They're old, but they still do the job. I'm tired of owning things. I'm trying to get rid of stuff that still works so I don't want to throw it away, find someone who could need it.
Mumbai makes me sad. Indians are such sweet people. And they're trying to lift their country up despite the corruption, poverty and overpopulation and assholes like those terrorists just tear things down. I definitely don't see how our people dying in Iraq (or being horribly wounded and maimed) makes that better (or even comes close to capturing bin Laden).
I had long thought that the US should just not get involved with anybody. No more charity, no more missions. Just pull out and leave the world alone. I felt like we were annoying the rest of the world. But when Obama was elected, I saw how stoked everybody was and I realized that the rest of the world has already chosen us to lead. They just don't want us to be dicks about it. A leader leads by consent of those who follow and I don't think that either Bush or the country was mature enough to understand the heavy burden of global leadership. It's ours whether we want it or not. We just need to recognize that we are part of a larger community and that community has rules. Rogue states and dictators are expected to break those rules, but the leader cannot....
Gifts are fine, stor boughjt stuff supports the economy and jobs too but yeah i was just so miffed that folks will wait in lone for hoursand kill and main each other for shit they rally don't need, but have no time for volunteering or helping their fellow man. You are right. we amass too much stuff...that is why we gave most of our surplus away to folks who could use it, or appreciate it. :)
