DowntimeCryptile - T - Jackie Tyler, Mickey Smith, Rose Tyler, the Doctor, the TARDIS - (Ten; post-Xmas)
"Fundamentally speaking, there's no real reason to be worried. I mean, the usual rather traumatic death-and-rebirth motif that underlies virtually all religious thought pretty much guarantees some sort of miraculous ascension into paradise as the result of a life well-lived and reasonably sinless, though of course the tricky bit is determining what constitutes 'sin' proper. I mean, a lot of it just gets traced back to tribal customs and taboos, anyway."
Author's note:
Ladies and gentlemen, my attempt at dealing with the Continuity F*ckup of 2006.
BRILLIANT. This story really grabs you from the beginning with its strange, unsettling style. An almost eerie feel continues about the piece as the style switches and swaps places with itself throughout.
The characterizations are swift and true-to-screen. Ten here seems to be a little dazed as to what exactly he's gotten himself into, and the only thing saving him is raveling everything undone. Rose and Mickey are Rose and Mickey, and nothing is going to change that. Jackie is fabulous and maddening and delicious.
What binds it all together is narrative -- tight, compact, and wry. A definite read.
No kinky porn tho.
