Let me tell you a story to chill the bones, 'bout a thing that I saw....
Ok, so yesterday I had this stupid orientation for Rowan transfer students. My friend, Glenn "The Champ" Iannaco drove me cuz he does research at the university. At any rate, through guile and trickery, I move myself ahead of schedule vs. the other students and get my stuff done quickly. So that afternoon, Glenn and I decide we're going to leave the campus and wander South Jersey's pinelands for a used truck-for-sale for me. After some time of cruising through miles of pinelands and seemingly identical farmhouses, we got lost... the furthest we went out was Hopewell (real freaking far). But our trip wasn't a terrible bust, because we came across a sight that was as weird as it was awesome.
Somewhere on the outskirts of what I think is Salem County, there's a farm with a very large tree in the front yard. But this is no ordinary tree, oh no; for the tree has been carved into the image of two enormous hounds leaping from it's stump in opposite directions. I kid you not, each dog was about 5 feet tall and looked like a lot of work had been put into carving them there. Had I not been driving at the time, I would have fallen to my knees and thanked Odin. Or maybe Sif.
Sadly, we had no idea where we were when we found it, (all the routes around there are 600 something). Moreover, we covered a huge swath of farmland where everything looks alike. But I'm desperate to find that place again, even if the location doesn't exist permanently on this plane of being. It was most righteous, and as soon as I can rediscover it, I'll post some directions.
Peace.
