I've got tagged by zappafloozie and as always I cannot possibly resist a meme like this - or any meme for that matter.

"RULES: Each player of this game starts off with 10 weird things/habits/little known facts about yourself. People who get tagged need to write a blog of their own 10 weird habits/things/little known facts as well as state this rule clearly. ( Read more... )

Hmmm, Im not sure if theres too much I can come up with thats wierd or unusual, but Ill give it a go...

1. Prior to my current job, previous jobs include: barman, waiter, shop assistant, putting CDs into sleeves in an office, putting seeds into packets in a lab, pressing the redial button on a mobile phone for eleven hours straight, for one day.

2. I got stung on my arm by an insect last year. Since then, the spot that got stung has flared up every month or so, as if Ive been stung again - something is probably still stuck in there...

3. In a similar vein, Ive dislocated my knee at least three times.

4. I have been mugged/threatened for cash four times in my life, and all four times were in 1996.

5. Before I chose to go into science, my second choice of career would have been archaeology. I went on an archaeological dig in Spain in 1996, looking for neanderthals, and my work experience was in the city council archaeological department.

6. Since moving to Switzerland a little under two years ago I have been on 32 flights, missed one, had one cancelled, and sat around in ten airports. 32 flights is almost twice as many as in the previous 26 years of my life.

7. I have ten cousins. Including two sets of twins.

8. I have a freakishly bad sense of direction. No matter where I am headed, within a few hundred metres I will have lost my bearings. In the first year, I got seriously lost in Basel at least four times. Despite this, I somehow managed to get up to light-green standard in orienteering at school.

9. Ich kann ein Bisschen Deutsch schreiben, aber nur ein Bisschen. Ich lerne Deutsch jetzt seit seiben Monats. (Man, I hope that makes sense!)

10. Im late now, so Im going to run and watch Castaway.

I am a bit intrigued by that job consisting of pressing the redial button on a mobile phone for eleven hours straight, any more details on that?

And what's with all the flying. Think of the environment!

I was hired for the day by a car number plate company. Along with 50 other people I had to press redial again and again to the DVLA, to try and get through and order number plates. Apparently they release the new plates (V reg this time) on one day and allocate them, one per phone call, on a first-come first-served basis. As you can imagine, the lines were pretty busy, so the company had us all pressing redial. It was quite good, actually - we got to read the paper and got 50 quid for it.

As for the flying, you of all people know how it is :)
