Tohru and Kyo were together again today, as they usually were. She was her usual awkward, polite self and he his usual awkward, stubborn self. Yet, anyone could see that they had a special connection, one that nobody else could understand. They, like the rest of the class, were waiting for the teacher to arrive, but there was something different, something magnificent about their interaction.
Uotani rested her chin in her hand and sighed heavily. "I'm scared," she said.
Hanajima turned her head, slowly and calmly. "I know."
"Graduation is coming up, and I don't want to lose her! She's spending all her time with Kyo now. It's like she's drifting away from us!"
"She's fallen in love. I am happy for her."
"Don't give me that shit! You're just as jealous as I am!"
"You're right. I am jealous of any boy that dares to come between Tohru-kun and me. However, I do not want to show such a childish and jealous side of myself to her."
"Yeah, you're right. We're acting like children, but she's not our mother. She's our friend."
"And we will remain friends. Even if we are separated, I will sense her waves and come rushing to her side whenever she needs me."
"And so will I." Uotani stretched her arms and leaned back in her chair. "I may not have your powers, but I can kick the ass of anyone who tries to hurt her."
Hanajima smiled. "Arisa, I don't think Tohru-kun would approve of that." She then began chuckling, and so did Uotani.
Tohru looked toward Uotani and Hanajima and began walking to them. They both jumped out of her seats and hugged Tohru tightly. There was a gentle smile on her lips, as if she understood why.
