Life without air conditioning in New York in the summer is one of the worse fates imaginable. Until the heat finally broke last night, I hadn't been able to sleep or function in three days. Sucks. On Thursday I found out that my really good friend Alex (from grad school) was killed by a drunk driver in Colorado on his way out to Los Angeles. The place he'd been trying to get to for years.
