Preface:
I do not like either candidate. I think they are both buttheads . . . sometimes for real, legitimate reasons and sometimes because I'm just judgmental and picky. Some of my reasons might be amusing to others, but they are legitimate concerns to me. I am currently leaning towards simply abstaining from this election. Yes, I will give up my right to complain for 4 years (at least about the government). And, it's not like my absentee ballot will be counted in IL anyways. I doubt it's going to be a close call there.

In defense of McCain picking someone for VP he has met once:
We, as a country, are asked to elect a President whom we have never met at all. Perhaps you have seen him speak in person and maybe gotten to shake hands, but I seriously doubt there have been many one on one "real" conversations going on with the Joe Schmoes of the country. If you are somehow given this opportunity, it was with one candidate so you really don't have fair exposure. And, it was probably once. The same research we all do and viewing of public debates and interviews is what McCain did in picking her.

Yes, it probably helped she was a she. But, it also helped just as much that she's a shootin', uber conservative, moose eatin', pro-lifer. And, she made quite the splash to steal Obama's limelight. I think I might like her as a person (despite the awful name choices she has made for her children (Track, Bristol, Willow, Piper and Trig . . . Seriously?). She has spunk. I don't agree with many . . . well, almost any . . . of her platforms but she seems like an acceptable human being.

That's my opinion. You can think she's weird, and McCain is a fool. Those are both possibly true.
