naming children . . .
so there's this online community that has a discussion board on naming children.
someone posted how it upsets them when people judge others based on their names.
i do it. all the time. i can admit that. the type of name a parent gives a child will normally coincide with how they are raised. it's not always true - just a general guideline.
i posted on the board with my opinion of the matter. a mom posted back with this:
"I feel that as a parent, my most important job as regards my children is to prepare them for the world that exists. Not the one that I think should be out there. Society judges anyway, even when we/they believe judgment is wrong."
it's interesting, and i really agree with it. i like when people say what i'm thinking in nicer ways :-)
