Title: The Sun
Pairing: Hyomin x Sunny
A/N: Been wanting to write this for so long and now it's done! Sunny and Hyomin's relationship in IY is definitely something to remember even though Sunny's gone from the show. ♥

Hyomin isn't cut out for variety.

She isn't. She's not funny. She rarely speaks. She doesn't get the jokes half the time. She has late reactions to everything. She panics easily at times. She's not used to doing things alone and she's not good with opening up to others. So no, variety shows aren't Hyomin's thing. She prefers standing on stage and dancing and singing and performing instead of being off in some weird town planting god knows what vegetable, catching chickens and fetching buckets of water.

So when she was told that she was joining this new farming type of variety show, Hyomin was beyond baffled. She was put on a variety show with the top notch starts of the country. How could she be not baffled, right? But as always, what company wants, company gets.

So they got folding screen Hyomin.

She hated everything at first. The town, the chores, the variety show, the people. How could she not hate everything? She wasn't familiar with any of it. She wasn't familiar with any of them. And Hyomin felt more alone and isolated than before.

But then came Sunny.

There were all kinds of rumors surrounding the small girl from one of the biggest girl group around. Most said she was sweet, some said she was weird, others said she was quite something and a few said she was the sun. And to Hyomin's surprise, she was all of them. She was sweet, funny, a little bit weird, quite something and probably the truest of them all, she is the sun. She brings the sun with her all the time.

At first, Hyomin was intimidated by her. Who wouldn't? Sunny is, after all, a member of Korea's top girl group at the moment. Of course she would be intimidating despite her small stature. But soon enough, Hyomin learned that there is nothing to be intimidated about the other girl. She was all sorts of positive.  And Hyomin likes it.

Rather, Hyomin likes her.

She stuck around Sunny and has learned a lot from her. They became inseparable. A couple, a duo, a team. They were known to be together.

And Hyomin grew to be a part of Sunny. Like, really a part of her.

Hyomin isn't funny, but Sunny makes her funny. She rarely speaks so Sunny speaks for her. She doesn't get the jokes and Sunny is there to explain it in an instant. She has late reactions to everything but Sunny's always there to react with her once she finally does. She panics at times and Sunny's always there to calm her down. She's not used to doing things alone so Sunny makes sure they do everything together. She's not good with opening up to others so Sunny opened up to her.

They are Sunny and Hyomin. The sisters. The couple. Always together.

But now, Sunny was gone. And Hyomin became alone again. No more Sunny and Hyomin. No more 1+1 couple.

Just Hyomin.

Hyomin wants to quit. She wants to get away from the show. How can she cope without Sunny? How can she be without her? They're Sunny and Hyomin. So how can she continue being just Hyomin?

There's so much happening with the new members and the old members now gone and Hyomin's head wants to burst open. There's the older Victoria who's hard to understand with her broken Korean and is more like a younger sister most of the time. There's Sori who's a little bit hard to approach. There's Jooyeon who's kinda like her during her first episodes.

There's no more Hara and Yuri who do gags together all the time. There's no more Hyuna who whines all the time and competes against her for Sunny's affection. And there's no more Sunny. There's no more Sunny who keeps her company all the time.

Hyomin thinks that the sun's never shining brightly enough in Yoochiri anymore.

She wanted to talk to Sunny. To confine to her and seek her comfort. She needs to. So Hyomin does. She dialled the number and waited for the call to be picked up. Once it was picked up, Hyomin blurted her words out in an instant.

"What should I do now?"

She felt it all. The quiver in her voice. The fear. The anxiety. The need. And she knows that that Sunny did too.

"Hyomin, calm down."'

Sunny's soft voice never fails to do wonders to her so she calms down. Just as she was told. She breathes in and breathes out.

"Sunny, what should I do now?"

She heard a giggle from the other girl and Hyomin couldn't help but smile. It was like the sun's back.

"Do it! Do well even without me!"

Hyomin was speechless for a second and she wondered how just the voice of Sunny can make everything seem better.

"But-"

"Hyomin, look around you." Sunny cut her off. "We may not be there anymore but we're still together, right? Look around, you'll see that nothing changed."

Hyomin looked around her. Sunny was right. Everything is like before. Nothing much changed. The girls still fool around with the staff. Taewoo hits on the girls, Shinyoung keeps everyone laughing with her jokes, the chief is still as warm as before. And the sun was there. It's shining brightly.

Hyomin lets out a soft sigh and a small laugh.

"Thanks, Sunny."

"You're always welcome. Call me, okay?"

"I will." Hyomin smiles one last time even though Sunny can't see it before hanging up.

So maybe Hyomin isn't cut out for variety before, but now she thinks she is. She learned so much and she's not about to let those things go to waste.

Sunny is right. Like she always is.

Sunny does bring the sun with her all the time. And maybe, she leaves a part of it in the places (and people) she touches all the time too. Because the sun is still with Hyomin.

And she'll be forever thankful to it.
