There's this website:
http://the-burning-house.com/ It's interesting. Most of the photos are really quite lovely.
But it made me realize something: there are no physical items, no possessions that I would immediately grab were my house burning. I'd get my child and my boyfriend and my cat. I doubt I would even think to get my wallet or phone or anything practical. I guess the emergency backpack full of In Case of Earthquake stuff, but that's on the way to the door. All important documents now live in a fire- and water-proof box.
There's nothing so sentimental to me that it pops into my head as anything like important enough to grab instinctively, and those things that I think of on second thought are either too numerous or too heavy or both (photo albums, records, etc.).
This kind of makes me sad. But it's also a bit freeing.
