day nine, thank whatever.

Day Nine: Two things for which you're proud of yourself.

1. Getting out that soul-sucking, morale-killing, dismal life I had a mere 16 months ago.

2. I mentioned this on Day Six, Five Things You’re Glad You Did: Going to college and getting higher degrees, even if they *are* entirely useless, apparently. For many, this wouldn’t be a big deal, but I had little to no support for my college wishes in HS, so I thought I’d never be able to do it. I had to make it happen on my own. This is a big deal for me, as I am both lazy and susceptible to my extreme fear of failure and rejection.  Also, when I say "little to no support," I don't mean discouragement or anything of that nature.  It was just kind of never discussed, and I knew we couldn't afford it, and I also knew a loan would be a problem, if not for my dad financially, then for him in his relationship with his wife.  So I casually went to city colleges and worked full time til I finally had the courage to apply to Pitt.  12 years later.

So with BF out of town all weekend, Child and I were at the mercy of others for entertainment farther away than our feets could manage.  Luckily, a couple we know came through big time!  Woo!  Lunch, bowling, sushi dinner (Child's first time, and he likes it!), beach exploration... It's so nice to know people who are so damn cool.  I also got to hang out with Cousin the Third and her husband and baby, who is beyond adorable.  Happiest baby EVAR.  Big ol' round head, too.  She's so cute it kills me a little every time I get to play with her.  I can't handle her cute.

BF should be home any minute now, and we're going for tasty Mexican dinner, so I'm in a pretty great mood right now.  Tomorrow I go be Mom for the kindergarteners' Valentine's Day party.  That should be fun, especially now that I've read the Dark Origins of Valentine's Day story that's been making the Facebook rounds.  Goatskins for every child!
