Out, damned spot!

I got out today. This was good, but last Sunday was even better because I got taken out. Not 'shot execution-style' taken out, but more like Chinese food taken out. Except I wasn't consumed in any fashion. Apart from being exhausted. But in a good way, like a solar-electric car.

Today I tried the non-negotiable MUST GO OUT rules, with partial success. I didn't get out of the house before midday, but everyone got home safe. I drove to the office to print out the WIP so I could stimulate my brain a bit and maybe sneak in some productive minutes late at night. I thought I had it at home but couldn't locate it, and eventually decided that I must have thrown it out for my "holiday", but found a fresh print on my desk at work so I guess I must have left it there.

Edit schmedit. I know what I mean.

The visit to work was just that--a visit--but as I'd hoped and suspected I did have an uninvoiced timesheet in my drawer, so there is some semblance of income in my future. Not a lot of income, for the timesheet showed that I have only clocked up 22 chargeable hours since the beginning of the year. That's a whole lotta frustration illustrated right there. On the bright side I was again welcomed to return whenever I was well enough. Today, not well enough.

Whilst in the area I decided to brave the local JB HiFi's. Locals will appreciate the challenge of visiting any business on Scarborough Beach Road, and in getting out alive without being forced to travel kilometres in the opposite direction to home. The trip was not without drama: a car broke down in the right-hand lane at the King Edward Street lights. For some reason, the car in the left-hand lane chose to ignore the green light, which caused some irritation and creativity in the ranks. This included the driver of the very large articulated truck pulled up beside me in the queue. Those horns are very loud.

Kudos to the cyclist who helped to push the stranded vehicle elsewhere through heavy traffic, and all the drivers who tried to be nice by letting others in and around sundry road hazards. Anti-kudos to the *&^&ing moron drivers who blocked the driveways, laneways, blind corners and sundry access points to the shops I was trying to get to. Kudos to the nice man who let me back in to traffic across two lanes when it was time to leave, and to everyone who supported my efforts to change across another 3 lanes in very short order so I could turn right at Ellen Stirling Boulevard. A mixture of both to the multiple lanes of turning traffic, bus, and people trying to get into the Innaloo shopping centre at the entrance right near the intersection, particularly those who were clearly confused by the multiple turning lanes and chose to beep someone or something. Osborne Park is quite the test of driver character; today I think I scored well.

After that the trip home was uneventful. I then napped and Who'd.

Somewhere in the middle of this I found my two missing Dr Who discs, and now have the complete Series 5. WooWho! The shopdroidette admired my hair and asked me if it was real. It took me a moment to decipher what she was asking (I'm assuming she thought the purple bits were extensions) and I believe I muttered something along the lines of "Er, mine." Tres cool.

The outing on Sunday was much more pleasant: Husband took me to Giardini's in Leederville for coffee and people-watching and newspaper dissection. I have a soft spot for Giardini's; it was there that I first experienced white chocolate cheesecake, many years ago. It was a rare and awesome outing. Which is a little sad, but I prefer to concentrate on the awesome.

outings, driving, coffeeeee, work
