A suggestion of normalcy

After a couple of slow creaky starts I'll blame on the weather, I managed to get to work for solid sessions both yesterday and today. Decided to see the folks this afternoon rather than take a chance on soggy horsies. I am absolutely a fair-weather animal friend which is why I've never sought custody of anything more outdoorsy than myself. I also haven't seen the folks for several weeks because of my cold and their holiday, so I was overdue for some parental unit time.

The folks' place has the added bonus of a dove's nest on top of one of the pillars under the back patio. One can sit in complete comfort in the dining room and bird-watch to one's heart's content. The nest was last occupied two years ago. There's one egg this time, so no sibling rivalry to observe, but it's amazing to watch the hatchlings grow over the first week or so. They seem to fledge in no time at all.

Work has taken a startling shift in gears from data management and systems integration into sales and marketing materials. New headspace required, but it's work that's easier to do in a befuddled state so I should clock up some hours. I tend to get bored with it quite quickly though. And after I get bored I go a little crazy. And then I start to get creative, but in an unsustainable fashion. Back in my 3D days I invented the tagline "See Outside The Square" of which I was quite proud at the time, but that was after three weeks solid of website content development.

Fortunately for my sense of honour these are relatively serious marketing materials for heavy industry. No need to jazz it up for perky Americans *shudder*. Sadly there is almost zero room for fun *sigh*. There isn't often room for fun, but I like to sneak some in wherever possible. Perhaps that's one of the reasons I like doing training materials - humour is a perfectly valid training device. That's what I tell them anyway.

Am not enjoying the exodus of happy excited people to Melbourne for WorldCon, but I am looking forward to I Can't Believe It's Not WorldCon over the weekend.

Quick Princess update: she's fine and appears to have regained normal sensitivity in and control over her tail. I'm thinking bruise.
