Surprises of various sorts - including a giveaway!

This morning I realized with horror that my "Cleaning music" playlist on iTunes only has 3 songs on it. What was I thinking when I created that? It's less than 12 minutes long!

Then I thought, Hmm. Does this by any chance reflect how much cleaning I actually WANT to do?

Er.

Let's just say, that playlist was on repeat for a loooong time this morning. But our house is looking better, and I had another baby-scan later this morning which really turned out perfectly. So I may be tired now, but I'm feeling a lot better about everything.

And I have a lot of links to share! Here they are:

1. Over at AuthorTurf, Brittney just posted an interview with me, and her questions were fun to answer, especially because so many of them were new. Read the interview to find out the craziest thing I ever did (which worked out brilliantly, thank goodness) and the first name I was actually supposed to have (which didn't quite happen)!

2. Woozles, the oldest children's bookstore in Canada, just posted a fabulous list of their favorite literary heroines in children's books for different age groups - and Kat was included in their list! It made me really happy, especially because Kat, Incorrigible is rubbing shoulders with books I really, truly love, like The Penderwicks - it's definitely worth checking out that whole list, which really brightened my weekend.

3. If you want to be the first to find out about what books and/or short stories I'll be publishing after the Kat books, you can sign up now to my new newsletter! I promise this will not clutter up anyone's inbox - I'm only planning to send out newsletters when I have real news to report, and never more than once in a month, maximum. I'll post some extras in those occasional newsletters, too, like excerpts from my books and even free short stories.

4. And last but soooooo very much not least...I had an amazing surprise this morning. Sara Glassman, a wonderful jeweler and bookseller, has created a pair of earrings inspired by Renegade Magic! And better yet, she's giving them away for free on her blog in celebration of Renegade Magic's paperback book birthday. Check out the giveaway here!

(I absolutely LOVE those earrings - the only reason I'm not entering the giveaway myself is that, as RM's author, it would feel like cheating! But I would really love another Kat fan to have them. So go! Enter! :) )

Having someone create something beautiful inspired by one of my books...that's just the most incredible feeling. It's hard to even describe how good it feels. And to have now had not one but two amazing jewelers create gorgeous Kat-themed jewelry (you can see Emily Mah's full selection of beautiful Kat jewelry on her website or on Amazon.com)...well, that honestly does feel miraculous to me.

Happy Monday, everyone! I hope your week is full of good surprises.
