...Pellston <-> Ann Arbor <3.5 hours minus stops and construction
What a weekend. Despite the unfortunate brevity of my appearance in Ann Arbor, I had a very good time =*). The short story is that my Professor cancelled our usual Monday class due to a need to fly to San Francisco, and thus, I was able to ride with Neda, Megan, and Anne Saturday evening to make a surprise visit. I missed the Art Fair by 12 minutes. But I still got to go with Kenny to his brother's and Haley's Couples "Stock our Bar Party" which was elegantly planned, not too formal, with a touch of class. I had a wonderful time, though I was definitely tired. Sleeping in on Sunday was marvelous. I have a feeling that sleep may become a precious commodity in the next couple weeks, due to final projects and impending exams. I think we'll get through it though. It's a different kind of stress than the stress during the semester in Ann Arbor anyway. ;)
Sunday afternoon/evening/night was great. Kenny and I had a late lunch at a new restaurant called Moe's, which is kind of comparable to Qdoba. The burritos were humungous...and delicious. I went to 5 oclock Mass at St. Mary's; it was great to see everyone and to be back in general. I do miss singing in choir a lot. After Mass we headed over to Cottage Inn to hang out (k and I: still too full to eat =P) as it was Benki's last weekend in town... again, what timing. I am so glad I got to see her before she leaves to go to Houston =/. Change is hard: A recurring theme you will notice in journal entries to come. Later on that night I made dinner at Kenny's, talked forever and fell asleep. Sadly he had to go to work early the next morning. I made a cake and had a wonderful lunch with Jen (at a FANTASTIC new restaurant on E. University...an italian cafe which I can't remember the name of at the moment, but GO there!) and we talked and it was so nice. I had to do a little research at the library which proved to be fruitless, but oh well. I caught a little homesickness when I went to the apartment; it was SOO clean and nice, as opposed to our permanently dusty and bug-ridden cabin. Anne and I still love our cabin though... for temporary use, it's very homey ;)
So, I was supposed to be camping in Seney (Nat'l Wildlife Refuge) tonight, but the whole thing was cancelled due to expected stormy weather.=( I was shocked/disappointed/relieved all at the same time. I was really looking forward to camping, but I am so exhausted right now. I am looking forward to a good nights' sleep before we depart early tomorrow (7ish). It will be a long day, but thankfully cooler, and not like the 89% humidity of Ann Arbor.
Goodnight all.
