I don’t know why we associate slowness with turtles, there are many other animals and living things that are way slower than them.
Animals have stereotypes too. Turtles are cute. I remember my babysitter telling me they carried diseases. I was about 8. My parents were away in Hong Kong or Japan.
Her son had a turtle and he was my best friend. The turtle had its own little dish and rock to sleep on.
I knocked the dish over and the water that splashed over wet my yellow socks and I stared at me feet in horror, thinking that I had just contracted some deadly turtle disease.
