I'm usually not temperature-sensitive, but my body is slowly reaching its limit after the last few weeks.
The office at work has no a/c and heats up nearly unbearably in the afternoon. Opening a window only lets in hot air, but not opening any means it's stuffy as well as hot.
I've taken to sleeping on the couch in the living room while having the balcony door and the window by the couch wide open to create some draft during the night. That does work and I've managed to keep my apartment reasonably cool-ish by letting down all blinds during the day. Unfortunately, leaving the windows open means getting the noise from the street, the brightness - and the occasional nightly visitor. A couple of days ago I was woken up at 3 am by some rustling, and then a very stressed bat flying circles through the room, always just a little too high to find the open door again. Switching on the light didn' work, and after switching it off again, I lost track of the bat. But the flapping stopped after a bit and I haven't seen it since, so I guess it got out.
Sister and me have planned our hiking - or walking, actually, since we're going to the UK - vacation in September. We're doing the Great Glen Way. 127 km (79 miles) in 6 days. Sister vetoed sleeping in a tent, so we had to find a way that was well equipped with hostels after each stage. That mostly worked out except for the first day where we need to do a detour (hopefully by bus or train), and the last day is 29 km (18 miles) long. We'll see how that goes.
Since one of the hostels only had beds available on a specific date, it left us with a spare day in Fort William. We're now using that for a day trip to Mallaig, taking the regular train in the morning and the Jacobite Steam Train - aka the Harry Potter train - back in the evening.
We will also stay two nights on (the Isle of) Lewis, the first one in a house that's actually part of an outdoor museum. That should be interesting.
I missed the start for requesting solo photo ops for Jensen, Jared and Misha for JIB! As in, I didn't even know it was approaching already until I read the newsletter that came a day after requesting started. I mailed in a request to be added to the waiting list anyway, without much hope, but immediately got an email back that Jared and Misha were still available! And I was added to the Jensen waiting list.
