A couple of days ago, one of my colleagues survived a heart attack. I saw him around a couple of times while I was still tagging along to get to know the machines, so I don’t know him that well - or how old he is, but I think about 30-35. Yesterday he wrote an e-mail to everybody in the company that made me tear up this morning.

He says he was dead for 35 minutes (I don’t know if that’s a realistic time), was reanimated and in a coma for a week.

His girlfriend was nine months pregnant. On Wednesday she went into labor, but, likely because she was upset about him, there were complications. He pleaded with the doctors to let him see her, and they sped up his examination process so he could join her in the delivery room. After 22 hours of labor (!) they had a son.

He says that "love is stronger than darkness and death". Which is admittedly a little cheesy, but reading that and thinking about how much luck he had is giving me goose-bumps.

life, work
