I have the new Slut album!

It's my mother's birthday on Thursday, and I bought her the Olympia CD, Unity. While I was at the record store, I also looked for Slut, though I didn't expect to find anything. But they had the new album! I knew that it'd be released in September/October, I just didn't know that it had been released already. It's probably been there all week ( Read more... )

Your cake thing had me curious so I asked mr. goodnews if he could translate. He speaks Swiss-German though as his first language, so he was a bit unsure about the German dialect. All he could give me was a direct literal translation, which was "a cake with green seeds". Is that right? Is that close? We're both so curious now. Also, he'd like to know where in Germany you are from, cause people who speak German are cool :)

I hope you're enjoying the English version of your book. mr. goodnews is reading it now as well, because I personally feel that everybody should read The Golden Compass.

I had a good laugh over your cake with green seeds. Grünkern (literally the green seeds) is actually "unripe spelt grain", according to my dictionary. Which I didn't even know, but you learn new things all the time. Küchle isn't necessarily a cake, although literally it does mean small cake. Think about pancakes, which aren't really cake, either. Küchle we call everything that resembles the meat you put on a burger, like that has the same shape or consistence. For example Fleischküchle (Fleisch=meat), which is the exact thing you would put on a burger. Grünkernküchle are made of Grünkern, carots, leek, onions and various other ingredients (I can give you a recipe if you're interested, though you'd probably have problems getting ( ... )
