I started reading you because of your CSI:NY recaps; now that you've started watching and commenting on DW, all I can say is: yay!
...Well, that's not *all* I can say. I can also say, for instance, that I *can't wait* 'til you get to 'Human Nature'. But for *now*, that's all I'll say. *g*
Thank you! I'm very glad you like the NY recaps, and I hope I can do a decent job with talking about DW after the new episodes air, too. The show is making me very happy.
Oh, and from what you've said here, and from what other people have mentioned, I absolutely can't *wait* until I get to "Human Nature." It sounds like there's such good stuff ahead, and I'm so looking forward to seeing all of it.
I haven't plunged much into the fic yet, but melina123 has a lot of recs here. I also added the comm who_daily to my flist, and they have a bunch of links every day.
One story I have read, and really liked, is Nothing But Flowers (Ten/Martha).
On a non-spoiler note, I am not thinking about writing Doctor Who fic. It would be silly to even consider it, because a) I have too many other things to work on as it is, and b) I don't know the show anywhere near well enough yet to be able to write fic that could do it justice.
*hee* Totally sounds like a challenge to me. *g*
I was going to warn you about the accents, but I forgot.
I have to say that this and the second part are probably my two least favorite for the season, but again that's relative.
Hee. It...probably is a challenge. But, really, I couldn't. I don't know it well enough.
But I want to. Dammit.
Yeah, it sounds like once I get over this Daleks-shaped hump, then there's all kinds of goodness waiting for me. Least favorite is, I agree, definitely a relative thing, but I'll still be happy once "Evolution of the Daleks" is over -- in part because everyone has been telling me how good the episodes following are, and I'm eager to see all of those.
My ears nearly collapsed when I heard the "American" accents. And it made me feel so hypocritical. I complain ALL the time about Americans doing terrible British accents (see whatshername in Dawson's Creek and one of the potentials in Buffy). I often want to rip out their vocal cords. I mean, there are plenty of brits around who you could use instead...And now I have to level the same accusation at the BBC. It makes me sad.
On the other hand, the bit where Martha thinks of using the lightening was a moment of squee. And had me thinking 'Rose would never have thought of that'. Martha just keeps on being intelligent and cool. I love it. Loved the Dr at the end when he's all we need a DNA lab - oh, look we're standing in one. Hehe.
Once you get on the other side of the Daleks story it all gets a lot better. Some of the best episodes ever are on their way.
The Dalek/Human hybrid totally freaked me out. It's all slimy looking and it's apendages are, well, very rude. I really hope they are done withe the Daleks for now.
Oh, the accents were ear-bleeding. I think a bad accent is grating whether it's an American doing a bad British accent, or the other way around. Or an American trying to do a regional accent other than their own and failing at it. (I've heard equally awful fake NY accents from people who are from the States far too many times.)
But yes, Martha is continuing to be fabulous, and I loved the Doctor's DNA lab bit. They make a formidable team. And after all I've heard about how good the episodes in the latter half of the season are, I'm really looking forward to seeing them.
The Dalek-human hybrid was just creepy and bad and wrong. Very, very disturbing.
