MATLAB is wonderful software, for some things. However, when one has to do a number of calculations in sequence, it's memory-hogging nature (combined with my poor computer's 867 MHz processor) means that I can set a program running and come back literally an hour later for the results. Grr.
In the mean time, I've been able to guiltlessly spend time reading
this website on digital photography. I have so many pictures recently (trip to europe, trip to the lake, nationals, etc) and I want to play with them and do neat artistic things to them.
At least my meeting this morning was productive... I have a much better understanding of how contrast-defocus functions work. Now to write this coherently and calculate some ratios and I can send it off by the end of the week and there are huge amounts of work to be done to make all of this project a master's thesis, but I will get credit for my research credits and I can launch myself into the fall semester feeling I've gotten to some point of completion on this project, delayed as it may be.
