Reasoning with A Sixteen Year Old

50 Things to Blog About #10: A letter to your 16 year old self. What advice would you give?

Looking back on the 31 years on my life to date, I can say I truely don't regret anything I've done.  All of my experiences, good and bad, have made me who I am today and I believe were all part of God's plan for me.  However, a little advice from an older, wiser self wouldn't have hurt.

"Stefania, here are some things to keep in mind as your going through this fun, crazy, journey of high school and college.  Don't go overboard when it comes to guys.  Enjoy crushes and boyfriends, they are fun.  But you maybe might want to tone down the stalking.  If the guy isn't that into you, forget about him!  He's not the one for you anyway and heartbreak over him isn't worth it.  Stay true to yourself, don't do things you don't truely believe in when it comes to a guy.  Don't date a guy because he likes you, but you aren't entirely sure you like him.  Also, if you catch a guy in a lie, it's not the only one.  Don't be fooled, it all will just end badly.

Enough about guys, let's talk about friends.  Don't put up with "friends" who make it obvious they don't actually care for your well being.  It's okay to cut ties, even if you are afraid you might be alone.  If anything, God will take of you.  You don't need friends to seal your worth.  It's okay to be alone, if that's how it turns out.  Because a time in your life will come when you are no longer alone.

Lastly, but most importantly, keep your eyes on God.  Consult him first in all you do.  Easier said than done, I know, but he will always lead you to what is good and right.  Love, your 31 year-old self."
