Well everything was fine, was gonna get my coursework done by middnight, get a solid 8 hours sleep, up at 8am, hand in the coursework some time around 9am and then get the 10:10 train back to inverness. Unfortuantely just as i thought i'd finished the coursework at middnight i realised i'd ballsed up pretty big style and am now having to redo most of it.
What is to give you may ask; i could hand it in later (4pm at the latest), i could get a later train, no none of those. The easiest thing to do is pull an allnighter and get it done. This may not initially seem the best course of action given that i haven't pulled an allnighter in at least 3 years but being sleep deprived beats being crammed into a typical late afternoon/evening friday train to inverness. You have not seen confined quarters or brutality until you've been on the 16:10 train from glasgow to inverness on a friday. I mean if we were animals the RSPCA would be going mental, that train puts battery chicken farms and veal crates to shame.
The only good thing about this is i'm glad that i bought 1Gb of ram for my comp, even the most rediculous multi-taking and gaming only came close to 512Mb but with ANSYS i have finally found something that taxes the Proc 100% for up to half an hour at a time, something that will happily eat up a whole Gig of Dual-Cahnnel DDR and something that taxes my SATA hard drive. Graphically it doens't even scratch the surface of the 9800pro but thats what i have Halo, Max Payne 2 and hopefully soon XIII and Call Of Duty for.
The reason for my rather long post here is that working out the natural frequencies of engineering components even on my comp takes a good hour or so. While i could be packing or doing other things ireally can't be arsed.
I should be ok till 5:30am have mad eit up till then in the last month but beyond that who knows. I don't even have dawn at a sensible time to look forward to, i'll be lucky if the sun s breaking the horizon by the time i'm heading into uni. Balls just checked with the
BBC and not only is sunrise at 8:44am, the temp is not getting above 4C, though at least theres no rain forcast.
Inverness is even worse, getting down to -3 and sunrise not till 8:51am. I have a whole 7ish hours of daylight to look forward to, that is provided the cloud clear long enough to see daylight.
Due to my straight-edge-ness (hence lack of caffine) all that stands between me and sleep is Skunk Anansie and System Of A Down blaring in my headphones (cos i'm cnoisderate to my neighbors don't-cha-know). Loud music seems good, long as i don't listen to the mellowness of The Postal Service or the more mellow tracks on Mellon Colie And The Infinite Sadness i should be fine.
Well this bloody solution is still going, guess i'd better make good use of my time and start packing stuff for going home. I swear if it wasn't running at 1Gb of RAM used and 100% Proc use i'd swear it had crashed it takes that long for the status bar to move.
I'm going out and i might not be back for quite some time. Well two weeks at least, i shall be on my normal christmas technology hiatus, well kinda. I suspect much PC repair and sorting awaits me, it will make a nice change from engineering though.
I'm so looking forward to this two week break, this semester and most notably this coursework has tested my patience and sanity almost to breaking, i just really need to get away from engineering for a while. Hopefully 2 weeks is enough and i can start studying for my jan exams when i get back.
If all goes to plan i will be back in glasgow on my brithday as is tradition so i shall be out of contact till some time in the evening of the 2nd of january. I should be able to check my mails when i'm home so feel free to mail me and i'll try to get back to you as soon as i can.
